Information FormatLens accesses

When you choose Extract page text or Pick element, FormatLens may read selected text, the value or visible text of a focused or chosen element, or nearby technical text exposed by the active webpage.

The extension stores only your selected system, light, or dark theme preference in local extension storage.

How the information is used

Page text is used only to create Pretty, Tree, and Raw views, perform local search, and copy content when you ask. Extracted content remains in the memory of the open side panel and is discarded when that extension context closes or reloads.

What is not collected or shared

FormatLens does not collect, upload, transmit, sell, rent, or share webpage content. It has no backend, analytics, advertising, tracking SDK, external processing service, or remotely hosted executable code.

Permissions

  • sidePanel displays FormatLens beside the active webpage.
  • scripting runs the packaged extraction helper after you request extraction or Pick element mode.
  • storage saves only your theme preference.
  • HTTP and HTTPS website access allows user-requested extraction on ordinary webpages. It is not used for background monitoring.

Your controls

You decide when FormatLens reads a page. You can close or disable the extension, remove it from the browser, clear its local storage, or change its website access through your browser's extension settings.
